Three's A Crowd : Beenie Man, D'Angel And Marco Dean

The public is once again engrossed in the very public “private” life of Beenie Man and D’Angel. It seems each week another episode of drama unravels before our eyes and ears, gripping the public grapevine with all sort of sordid details.

Earlier this year, allegations of infidelity crept up, and bedroom brawls soon went to the street with restraining orders in tow. Beenie Man went to the media and instantly the couple’s private life became public entertainment.

From radio to internet to television, Beenie Man and D’Angel dose us each week with some new saga that buzz media houses and fill barstools islandwide.

However this real world scenario has taken an ugly turn. The saga has now enveloped the couple’s young child, MarcoDean.

Allegations cropped up earlier this year questioning the legitimacy of the couple’s young child, and reports from the news wire state that Beenie Man and his legal team have scheduled a paternity test, in an attempt to overturn the Jamaican courts most recent ruling, granting D’Angel full ownership of business entities previously operated by the couple.

Though ironic that the child has never been photographed in public, it seems preposterous, that any of the parents would now want to drag this young baby through their public parade. It echoes a sense of irresponsibility on both sides of the table. The intrinsic value that may be gained from strategic PR pilfering, will not outweigh the impact it may have on the child in the future.

Think about it. Who wants to be accused of being a “Jacket pickney” ?

Whether it’s true or not, the social connotations that resonate throughout the Jamaican society are nor easily ignored and is sure to leave a sore spot for everyone involved.

If it is extremely necessary to conduct the tests, the whole incident should be handled tastefully and privately. MarcoDean need not be drawn in to the limelight.

Take a hint from Brad and Jolie. Just enough keeps us wanting more.

As the proverbial Jamaican saying goes “is not everything good to eat good to talk”
