Hit Songwriter and Dancehall DJ, Don Mafia has split from Yaweh Music Group, the company that re-ignited his career.
In an interview with the Jamaican Star, Don Mafia announced the launch of MafiaWorld Records, the imprint which will now accompany all his future releases.
Yaweh Music Group director, Donovan Bisasor was unavailable for comment at press time, but sources close to the company stated that the split was amicable.
“Don Mafia, is very talented and is a viable musical product. It is sad that our objectives are not one of the same” commented A&R executive Denver Thompson, the man responsible for bringing Don Mafia to the Music Group.
The split came after months of unresolved issues between the label and Don Mafia, whose luke warm performances and non-appearances at a number of events, became the ultimate demise of the 4 album deal with the Music Group.
Don Mafia’s upcoming album “The Real Mafia Story” will be released under his new imprint “MafiaWorld” but will include a number of singles from Yaweh Music Group.
Don Mafia was previously the songwriter for Jamaica Dancehall legend Beenie Man.
